From: Jed Schwartz <JED@COLUMBIA-20.ARPA> The Distributed Computing and Communication (DCC) lab of the Computer Science Department at Columbia has an opening for a research programmer. The lab includes a local area network of SUN and Silicon Graphics workstations being interfaced with IBM and Apple personal computers. Responsibilities include development, installation and maintenance of software facilities. The programmer will support and participate in our research projects which center around distributed applications and man-machine interface. He/she will be a central figure in the future development of our state of the art environment, and will be given the flexibility to work creatively and independently to this end. The successful candidate will have experience in UNIX systems and C programming. He/she will be a self-starter who enjoys building environments and taking initiative. Experience with ethernet, Macintosh and SUN workstations are a plus. Experience with Macintosh microcomputers or SUN workstations is also desirable.
