			UNIX SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

The USC Computer Science Department has a job opening for a full-time
experienced UNIX Systems Programmer to support our computer systems
consisting of two DEC VAX computers, 50 AT&T 3B2 and 2 3B20 computers, 4 SUN
workstations, numerous IBM personal computers (PCs to ATs), an Ethernet, a
3B-Net and a CSNET connection.  The Systems Programmer will be responsible
for maintaining and upgrading the Unix systems and related software and for
providing emergency service to the major systems.  Other duties consist of
providing technical support to faculty, installing new software and expanding
our computer nets, gateways and mail systems.  The Systems Programmer,
reporting directly to the Systems Administrator, will be expected to work
independently on pre-defined projects and will supervise operations
personnel.

Qualifications: MS (BS with comparable experience) in computer science or
closely related field.  Three years experience with UNIX (preferably Berkeley
or AT&T System V) and one year experience with C; some networking/netmail
experience or kernel experience is also required.
