Duties include developing, installing, and maintaining new software facilities on Vaxes running 4.2bsd Unix. Assists in administering user accounts, answering user questions and performing operations functions. Qualifications: 1 to 2 years experience with the UNIX(tm) operating system and the C programming language. Knowledge of ethernet-based LANs and networking protocols is helpful. Experience with TOPS-20 or VMS operating systems desirable. Understanding of hardware debugging techniques helpful. Good communications/writing skills. -------

The Computer and Information Science Department invites applicants for a
Systems Programmer position. Applicants must have earned a Bachelor's degree
in Computer Science or a related field, know several high level programming
languages and have experience with Unix and/or VAX/VMS. Applicants must be
self-motivated, independent and interested in being part of a Computer
Science research effort.
The department has a network of several VAX-11/785's, VAX-11/750's and
Symbolics Lisp Machines as well as special purpose hardware. There are three
other Systems Programmers working in the department.
