From: DDAD@SRI-KL.ARPA Statistical Programmer/Analyst The Statistical Information Management Department at SRI International in Menlo Park, California has a position available for an MS-level Statistical Programmer/Analyst. This individual will work on a variety of contract research projects under the general supervision of a statistician. The Statistical Programmer/Analyst provides statistical programming and analysis services, usually involving the implementation, maintenance, and analysis of data bases arising from surveys and scientific experiments. Candidates for this position should have a broad familiarity with statistical concepts (e.g. master's level course work is desireable), and expertise and experience in using IBM mainframes, SAS (other packaged programs such as BMDP or SPSS may be acceptable) and a higher level language (preferably FORTRAN). Experience with IBM P.C.'s and DEC minis such as VAX is also useful. Because much of the work will involve the analysis of survey data, it is desireable that the candidate be familiar with the design and implementation of surveys of individuals and businesses, be interested in social science issues (e.g., economics, psychology, market segmentation, etc.) and be knowledgeable about statistical techniques that are used on social science data (e.g. multivariate statistics, ANOVA, factor analysis, discriminant analysis). Other types of work may come from the fields of engineering, environmental pollution, toxicology, behavioral medicine, chemistry, management sciences, computer systems analysis, etc. The salary range for this position is $20,000 - $35,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
