Statistical Programmer/Analyst

The Statistical Information Management Department at SRI International
in Menlo Park, California has a position available for an MS-level
Statistical Programmer/Analyst. This individual will work on a variety of
contract research projects under the general supervision of a statistician.
The Statistical Programmer/Analyst provides statistical programming and
analysis services, usually involving the implementation, maintenance, and
analysis of data bases arising from surveys and scientific experiments.
Candidates for this position should have a broad familiarity with statistical
concepts (e.g. master's level course work is desireable), and expertise
and experience in using IBM mainframes, SAS (other packaged programs such as
BMDP or SPSS may be acceptable) and a higher level language (preferably
FORTRAN). Experience with IBM P.C.'s and DEC minis such as VAX is also
useful.

Because much of the work will involve the analysis of survey data,
it is desireable that the candidate be familiar with the design
and implementation of surveys of individuals and businesses, be
interested in social science issues (e.g., economics, psychology, market
segmentation, etc.) and be knowledgeable about statistical techniques
that are used on social science data (e.g. multivariate statistics, ANOVA,
factor analysis, discriminant analysis). Other types of work may come from
the fields of engineering, environmental pollution, toxicology, behavioral
medicine, chemistry, management sciences, computer systems analysis, etc.

The salary range for this position is $20,000 - $35,000 commensurate with
qualifications and experience. If you are interested in being interviewed,
