From: "DYMOND,KEN" <dymond@nbs-vms> JAPANESE LANGUAGE INTEREST LIST Here at the National Bureau of Standards there are three groups of scientists from various disciplines who are studying the Japanese language to become proficient enough to read the technical literature in their fields from Japan. A week ago NBS and IEEE sponsored a two-day conference on Japanese technical literature in electronics and the issues involved in making it accessible to U.S. scientists and engineers. We wonder if there are any other small-scale solutions (or large- scale ones for that matter) known to anyone on the net. Do you or a colleague (perhaps one who doesn't have a terminal on the net but whom you would be willing to send and receive electronic mail for) spend time learning Japanese ? Do you know of any computer-assisted means of learning Kanji ? Is there enough interest in this topic to start an interest list ? ------
