From: Marty.Herman@CMU-CS-IUS.ARPA The Sensory-Interactive Robotics group at the National Bureau of Standards is seeking very high-quality people to fill several senior and junior level research positions. The senior positions require an established research record; the junior positions require a recent masters or doctoral degree. The scope of the research covers all aspects of robotics, with emphasis on sensing and sensory interpretation, multi-sensory integration, world modeling, control systems, sensory-servoed control, path planning, and task planning. The work environment is similar to that at an advanced research institute. Ample time and facilities are available for long-term research projects. NBS is located on a large, beautiful, partially-wooded campus in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. Excellent housing, shopping, entertainment, and recreational facilities are nearby. The Sensory-Interactive Robotics group is part of the Center for Manufacturing Engineering, which has earned international recognition for its effort in automation. With a staff of about 300, this is the second largest research center in automation in the world. For more information about these positions, contact either Dr. Ernest Kent or Dr. Martin Herman at National Bureau of Standards Sensory-Interactive Robotics Group Gaithersburg, MD 20899 301-921-2147
