From: Marty.Herman@CMU-CS-IUS.ARPA

The Sensory-Interactive Robotics group at the National Bureau of
Standards is seeking very high-quality people to fill several senior
and junior level research positions. The senior positions require an
established research record; the junior positions require a recent
masters or doctoral degree. The scope of the research covers all aspects
of robotics, with emphasis on sensing and sensory
interpretation, multi-sensory integration, world modeling, control
systems, sensory-servoed control, path planning, and task planning.

The work environment is similar to that at an advanced research
institute. Ample time and facilities are available for long-term
research projects. NBS is located on a large, beautiful,
partially-wooded campus in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.
Excellent housing, shopping, entertainment, and recreational facilities
are nearby.

The Sensory-Interactive Robotics group is part of the Center for
Manufacturing Engineering, which has earned international recognition
for its effort in automation. With a staff of about 300, this is the
second largest research center in automation in the world.
