From: Will Tracz <TRACZ@SU-SIERRA.ARPA> MICRO 18 THE 18TH ANNUAL WORKSHOP ON MICROPROGRAMMING "The Changing Role of Microprograming" is the theme of MICRO 18, the 18th Annual Workshop on Microprogramming that will be held December 3-6, 1985 at the Asilomar Conference Center, Pacific Grove, California. Keynote speaker, Glen Langdon will discuss the current and future impacts of RISC type architectures on microprogramming. The technical program is composed of formal sessions on Microcode Tools, Microprogramming Languages, Control Stores, Microsequencers, Microarchitectures and Microcode Development Experiences. Panel discussions have been organized on the topics of Vertical Migration, Microarchitectures, Operational Specification of Microprogrammed Architectures and Future Directions on Microprogramming. Keeping with the workshop atmosphere, informal sessions on Microprogramming Hacks and War Stories will be featured. A full day tutorial proceeds the start of the Workshop. As a special feature, the Monterey Aquarium has been reserved for the traditional evening banquet. Attendees and their guests will be given a private tour of the facility and enjoy a pleasant meal overlooking the bay. The workshop is sponsored by IEEE Computer Society and ACM.
