For version 2.7: Why is inews so slow? On a relatively unloaded 2.8 bsd 11/70, it takes 15-20 cpu seconds to submit a single ~1000 char article. This seems incredibly slow. We get all our news over the Arpanet, article by article. Since each of these has to be given to uurec, the ensuing cpu time can be quite large. For a given day's volume of 150-200 messages, we're talking about close to an hour of cpu! Does anyone else have this problem? Stuart mclure@sri-unix ucbvax!menlo70!sri-unix!mclure
