[net.news.b] previous article bug

anton (06/28/82)

I am submitting this as a user; can replies/fixes go to
	..!decvax!hcr!rrg
please.

When reading an article I try not to clutter up the net by replying
direcly to the author if I think it is worth while. However, this
usually means reading to the end of the article and
typing '-' to go back so that I can use "r".

Still with me ? I presume there is someone out there in netland
who does much the same.

Now occasionally - NOT USUALLY AT GROUP BOUNDARIES - this mechanism doesn't
work. The 'readnews -n all' will NOT back up to the previous article.
If I try addressing the article by number (even from later on in the same
group) I end up with the one after it. The only ways are to 'x' and go round
again, or edit my '.newsrc'.

I find this tiresome, and occasionaly end up posting replies to the wrong
people (if you get one, send it back & I'll try to patch up the routing)
which is not a good thing.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Could it be a result of stuff in my
.profile ? Has anyone any ideas ?
