news 2.9 sites don't get full usernames in any messages that they get from 2.10 sites because 2.10 news puts the full name only in the "From:" line of the header, not the "Path:" line. Since the Path: line occurs first in the header, news 2.9 takes it to be the official From line and it ignores all the succeeding ones, including the one that has the full name. I don't know if this is a misfeature in 2.10 or 2.9. Since headers exported by 2.10 contain an internet address in the "From:" line, it's very fortunate that the "Path:" line comes first, otherwise the 2.9 sites would never be able to respond to any message unless they had an internet mailer. The most obvious (but perhaps not the best) fix is to include the full name on the "Path:" line as well as the "From:" line. Incidentally, we're not getting any full names on any messages received via genrad; perhaps they and the sites downwind from them don't have the header.c fix? (There was a misplaced '!'). Mark
