[net.news.b] vnews misfeatures/bugs

I'm not sure if this is where vnews bugs should go, but I can't think
of a better place.

The save article command takes FOREVER. In vnews, saving one of the
700+ line usenet map took ~40 system secs while readnews took ~2.
I can see no reason for this since both seem to use tprint() from
rfuncs2. A major difference is that readnews uses a fwait(fsubr())
call, but this shouldn't matter, should it?

The goto article and goto parent commands seem to hang. The ID
is printed, e.g. "<foo@bar.UUCP>", but nothing else happens. Again,
readnews does this function correctly.

Other than these, I like it. If only it could do notesfiles-like
grouping and an index page, it would be almost perfect. Going back
to some old article is still painful with news 2.10 in general.
A complaint with news 2.10 is that the -x command takes forever also.
What does it do? Try to open articles 1 to infinity?

If I discover solutions to the above, I'll post them, but I thought
someone else out there more familiar with it might know. By the
way, we have an 11/44 running 2.8 BSD.

readnews -x tries to do exactly that. Since no record is kept
of the first article in each group (only the last), readnews does
a stat() call on articles 1 through the first one to find the
lowest one. Slow...

Other vnews problems are:
	1. it hangs on a ^Z. When restarting, it doesn't
rewrite the screen until I ^L.
	2. It doesn't say last article to give me the chance of
deciding if I want to go back, save, or x from vnews.

Also, vnews has a bug where when coming back into vnews
(via ^Z, a reply, or followup) the article is not displayed.
Overall, however, I think the vnews interface is the best.
(One man's opinion.)
