[net.news.b] where have all the error messages gone?

rcj@burl.UUCP (R. Curtis Jackson) (11/15/83)

UUCP@burl running 2.10.1 news:
Every five minutes, cron runs /usr/lib/news/Poll, a shell script.
This shell script runs 'sendnews' and 'sendnews -r', among other
things. Noone ever gets mail about errors. However, if I run
the identical command(s) by hand, or with a 'nohup', I *do* get
the mail telling me 'error in sendnews......'

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and/or how it can be
fixed? cron is run by root, of course, and the command in crontab
is: su news -c /usr/lib/news/Poll

I have mail for both root and news forwarded, I have verified that
their mail IS indeed forwarded properly.

Thanks for any help,
