[net.news.b] format of moderators file

phil@amd.UUCP (Phil Ngai) (11/05/84)

I could look at the code and figure this out but I would imagine
a lot of other people could benefit from the answer to this question:
what is the proper format of the moderators file when there is
more than one moderator?
This:
****************************************************************
mod.happy	abc!joe
mod.happy	undue!fred
****************************************************************
or this?
****************************************************************
mod.happy	abc!joe undue!fred
****************************************************************

thanks.

The latter form is correct. Following is the 2.10.2 moderators
file for "gatech":

mod.map akgua!cbosgd!mark
mod.map.news	akgua!cbosgd!map
mod.map.uucp	akgua!cbosgd!uucpmap
mod.motss	akgua!wjh12!bbncca!sdyer
mod.movies	ulysses!ecsvax!bch
mod.music	akgua!hou2e!gregbo
mod.newslists	gatech!spaf seismo!rick
mod.singles	ihnp4!nsc!chuqui
mod.sources	allegra!genrad!john
mod.std akgua!cbosgd!mark
mod.std.c	akgua!hou2d!osd
mod.std.mumps	ihnp4!plus5!hokey
mod.test	akgua!cbosgd!moderators
mod.unix	akgua!cbosgd!mark
net.announce	akgua!cbosgd!mark
net.announce.newusers	gatech!spaf

OK, so Spaf says the correct form for the moderators file is

	mod.happy	abc!joe undue!fred

But what good does it do? Does 2.10.2 pick one at random? Or does it
always take the first? Or the second?

It should take both. The line following the moderated group name is
put in the header of the mail message after the "To:" header. If
your mailer understands multiple addresses on a line (and it should)
then the mail will go to both parties.

Try it and you'll see.
