Ok, this has happened twice in a row now, I'm officially confused. I pulled out the 2.10.2 documentation a while ago and found a description of localgroups. It seemed to be just the thing to cure a problem I'd been having since we started some local newsgroups. (specifically, whenever I ran the checkgroups posting it would complain about the local groups). Well, here is my localgroups: test to.all uk.all bboard general ky.all msgs And now the checkgroups complains about all the legitimate newsgroups listed in the checkgroups message. Very confusing.
