Being a newcomer to this newsgroup, I have probably missed discussion of this topic in earlier articles. Here goes anyway: I am interested in deciding which four seater, single engine plane is 'fastest'. I use this term lightly, to mean some combination of the following: high cruise speed, 'low' cost (i.e . a $60K plane that does 210kts. is 'better' than a $120K plane that does 250kts. The relationship is not linear, though...), long range, good mileage, baggage capacity. Some planes that come to mind as being possible competitors include the Mooney 231. I've never been in one, but the specs look pretty good. The only negative thing I've heard about them is that for a 6'1" person like me, it's a pretty tight fit. Anyone else have ideas, suggestions? Experience in these planes is valuable. Thanks, Rick
