PS@MIT-MC 08/06/82 21:56:37 Re: Noise Abatement To: AVIATION at MIT-AI One airport that is rather unconventional (at least as far as other airports in the northeast U.S. are concerned) is Minute Man Airport in Stowe, MA. It is a privately owned airport. The owner also ownes and operates the FBO, and rents land and space to other commercial concerns. He owes a large parcel of land that surrounds the airport. He claims that he will keep this land as a noise buffer zone. He values his relationships with his neighbors, and if a pilot violates the spirit of his very reasonable noise abatement rules, they will be told to stay out. The airport has an excellent restaurant, and the place has the friendliness and large amounts of hangar-gab that is missing at many airports these days. On top of this, the fellow pays mucho property taxes to the town and state, and does not charge a landing fee (gas is reasonable too). Pete
