A couple of us were perusing an approach plate during lunch and
found (drum roll, please):
GIJOE Outer Marker at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
I mean, now really! That one I could not make up! That got us thinking,
what other good (funny, odd, local character) intersections, outer markers,
VOR or what have you names are running around in the airspace. How about
listing these in the news and giving everyone a laugh?
(by the way, another favorite was WANDA Intersection, the FAF for
Augusta, Kansas. You called "...on top of WANDA (Intersection) while
on the approach. It has since been changed to WANDY which spoiled a
very good joke.)
