[net.aviation] Space shuttle landing

I am considering flying down to California to view the shuttle
landing.  Has anyone out there done this in a private aircraft?
What is the best airport to use? Palmdale has an instrument
approach and looks pretty good.  Is there bus transportation
to Edwards from Palmdale?  What arrangements do I need to make
to get onto the base the see the landing?  What else do I need to
know?
