[net.aviation] Telex E951

I bought a Telex E951 headset (Electret mike, medium noise attenuation)
and the PT300 talk switch from International Flight Institute ( mail order
discount house - advertises fairly regularly) for somewhat less than 150$.
It works nicely, I've always gotten 'loud and clear' reports back and
is quite enough attenuation for the Tomohawks, Cherokees, 152, 172's I've
tried it in. I can hear speech quite well; in some planes without a
phone jack I use it for attenuation and listen to the speaker. I can
hear the passengers about as well as without the headset. My only
problem is that with both the phones and the speaker (for the passengers)
on, adequate volume on the phones gives somewhat uncomfortable volume
on the speaker. This may be different from plane to plane. It does
not have a volume adjustment. A mike adjustment is available inside
the headset.
