CHICAGO - Air Illinois Thursday halted all flights untile next year and
furloughed 200 employees, just hours after the FAA grounded the 2 largest
jets of the airline.

The commuter airline said it intended to resume service early in 84 to the
15 airports in 6 states in its system.

The FSS assigned its inspectors to monitor airline operations after
NTSB hearings into the Oct 11 crash of an AI-plane near Carbondale,
which killed all 10 people aboard.

The 2 BAC-111s were grounded because the FAA considered the maintenance
program "inadequate."

Evidence presented at the Carbondale hearing indicated the Hawker Sideley
748 had experienced mechanical problems before the crash.

Do we have to expect more of this, result of commuter airlines
breaking into the competetive regional market, skimppy on
	maintenance ???
