[net.aviation] Antique and Homebuilt Fly-In

Northwest pilots and airplane luvers, mark your calendars!

The EAA Fly-in is back at Arlington Airport this year, August 10-12.
This is your chance to see how (and what) REAL pilots fly. I didn't
go to last year's fly-in (it was held in Bellingham where they have
a 'control' tower and no grass, yuck!) but the years previous were
memorable experiences.

An advisory tower will be set up this year, frequencies are:

		Tower:	124.9
		Ground:	121.6
		Unicom:	122.7

If you intend to fly in to the event, it is wise to arrive early if
you want a tie-down. The first time I flew in, I arrived at about
two in the afternoon on Saturday. The field from a distance looked
like a beehive that had just been kicked; many of the planes in the
'pattern' had no radio, and there were at least two ragged formations
of homebuilts. IT WAS GREAT!!

When I finally got down, I was directed to park over in the 'wimp'
section, with the other tin cans, in an area of high grass at the
north end of the field. The FBO at Boeing field wasn't too pleased
that their machine had been used as a 150 HP weed-eater!

Anyway, the event is a heluva lot of fun, even if you drive in and
just watch. See ya there!
