[I guess it's time to throw in my 2 cents worth...] It seems to be that there's a time to be mellow, and a time to be a hard_as*. The determination probably has more to do with the attitude of the student than anything else - some people will respond better to a pizza and beer (after the flying is done, of course), other people it seems won't respond to anything other than violent screaming. Now, the real trick, as I see it, is to figure out what a particular student needs or will respond to and provide it. I guess that comes with experience. BTW - just by way of disclaimer, I'm not a CFI (yet); I do expect to have a Commercial liscense in a matter of a month or two, and CFI not too long after that. But for now, I'm just Private/Instrument and ~650 hours. --------------------------------------------------------------------- From the flapping feathers of | The above text does not in any ...decwrl!rhea!raven1!Bluejay | represent the views, thoughts, or on the DEC Enet, | or anything else or any person, Raven1::Bluejay | institution, orgination, company, | or sentient being, other than | [perhaps] myself.

While we're on the subject of CFI's , can anyone recommend a flight school and/or a CFI in the San Diego area? I don't respond well to the "you stupid bastard, you blew it" school of instruction. Jerry Greenberg "Chemists are people too"
