Did I say "Peacemaker"....must not have had my brain
engaged....it is "Peacekeeper". While I've got one
shoe in my mouth, might as well get the other one in:

Mention was made of the "Buffalo". The U.S.Navy and
Marines operated the Brewster Buffalo as a "first line"
fighter from 1938 to June 1942. I believe the designation
was F2B (But I won't bet on it). The plane was inferior to
even the Grumman Wildcat with which it competed for production
contracts. After a disastrous showing
at Midway, all types were withdrawn from combat duty.
The Fins used them against the Russians as well.
